I was the girl who played in the woods. I lived in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, a town of century homes, green spaces and tall trees. I spent fine summer days playing in a deep, wooded ravine behind my house; I knew it’s every path and secret dell.
So I love the green, forested world, and I find beauty in vignettes – a butterfly on a flower, Queen Anne’s lace and chicory growing by the curbside, birds and clouds and the sailing moon.
My paintings are my attempt to capture those fleeting images and keep them before me; to remind me of a momentary flash of beauty, to fill my eyes with color and texture, to uplift my spirit, to evoke wonder.
My medium is digital. I am a graphic designer, and digital technology both stimulates my creativity and provides me the tools to become a ‘maker’. I bought my first iPad without even knowing exactly what I would do with it; I just knew I had to have it. And now my iPad Pro is my perfect painting medium. With a stylus in hand, I can sketch and paint digitally as naturally as with pencil and paper, whenever and wherever I find myself.
