with Sarah Harrigan

The Ashtabula Arts Center is thrilled to have Sarah Harrigan from Riverside High School facilitate this Teen Writers Workshop! Read Sarah’s message to her fellow teens below, and sign up to join in on the fun:

“Hello! I am Sarah Harrigan! An 18 y/o senior at Riverside High School, aspiring to go into the Creative Writing field at John Carroll University. At our high school, we are given the opportunity to formulate a senior project based on our interests. Therefore, I have decided to work with my community sponsor, the Ashtabula Arts Center– a non-profit, multi arts organization that prides themselves in striving for advocacy and collaboration within communities.

I will be facilitating a 2-Week Writing Workshop just for teens, ages 14-18, focusing on the following:

1. Uplifting the voices of a diverse group of teenagers

2. Inspire others to share their poetry and prose to other teenagers

3. Foster a supportive community of teenagers who elevate each other and their stories

4. Offer constructive critique respectfully to others, while taking critique to amplify the messages of your poetry and prose

5. Formulate, edit, and “publish” a chapbook as a tangible final product to (if everyone consents), sell in order to fund the Ashtabula Arts Center.

This Writers Workshop will be a hybrid class (meaning you can go to AAC or simply join a zoom call). The workshop will be held from 5PM-6PM on the following dates:

  • Monday, May 11th (Zoom or in-person at the AAC)
  • Wednesday, May 13th (Zoom or in-person at the AAC)
  • Friday, May 15th (Zoom only)
  • Monday, May 18th (Zoom or in-person at the AAC)
  • Wednesday, May 20th (Zoom or in-person at the AAC)
  • Friday, May 22nd from (Zoom only)

Join by May 1st! After joining, you’ll be invited to the Google Classroom for collaboration and meetings. Hope to see you there to be part of the art, (and the writing)!”
