“My primary mediums are Pastels and Oils. I am a Master Pastelist with the International Assoc. of Pastel Societies (IAPS). I’m also a juried member of the Pastel Society of America, and the Oil Painters of America, and my work has been published in Strokes of Genius, by Northlight Books, and by The Richeson75, International Art Books, Pastel Magazine and Artists Magazine: The Best of Drawing. My focus is mainly the landscapes of N.E. Ohio, but I love to bring my supplies along when traveling. After a long career as an Illustrator and Calligrapher, I’ve chosen to work in a painterly style, and love to explore what the mediums can do with mark-making, underpaintings, and experimental techniques. After my years doing very realistic work, my aim is to transcend conventional realism and be as expressive as I can.” – Susan Porges
