“Over the past three years since my retirement I have been in a period of transition from career to reflection. At first I wasn’t sure what I would do. Then as time started moving along I found a creative extension of my career that I was not ready to forfeit. Working with wood provided me with such a rich past, and now it seems to be opening a equally rich and expressive future.
“I was lucky enough to travel extensively and meet hoards of interesting people and experience the sights and culture that I may not have experienced without such a career.
The last few years have been a new period of exploration as I find ways to live my new life. I believe this shows in my work over this period. I also hope that anyone viewing my work also sees a bit of my past experiences and the characters that I have met along the way.” — Chris Herakovic
