Saturday, December 5, 2-4 p.m.
$25 per person (qualifies for virtual learning scholarship – choose scholarship option at checkout)
This virtual workshop will address oppression and privilege as they relate to understanding socialized systemic racism and healing racial inequality. We’ll use movement, personal storytelling, and artistic creation to examine ways that dominant white culture reinforces racism, and discuss how to apply this awareness in everyday life and work. Participants will increase knowledge of socialized systemic racism by identifying at least two areas of oppression and privilege, learn three methods of confronting socialized systemic racism through movement, personal narrative, and creative expression, and increase awareness of systemic racism and color blindness and open dialogue to improve cultural competency.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing for movement.
Art Supplies needed:
Colored Pencils
Colored Markers
Oil and/or Chalk Pastels
Drawing Paper (preferably 12” X 18”)
