Thanks to a sponsorship from KeyBank of Ashtabula, we are now able to offer virtual learning scholarship support for all of our virtual classes, and those that will be coming in our fall schedule. To take advantage of the scholarship, click that option at checkout when registering for a class. Our fall class schedule will be posted in early August.

Virtual Visual Arts Classes

Pressed Nature Art
for grades 1 & up
with Nancy Nelson-Brotz
Tuesday, July 28
1-2 p.m.
$6 class fee
This class fulfills the 2nd requirement for the Girl Scouts Junior Art Explorer Badge.

We’ll make air-dry porcelain clay and use it to create a beautiful pressed pendant, magnet, sun catcher, or bookmark.
Recipe for clay: 1 cup cornstarch; 1 cup white glue; 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of baby oil; hand lotion; plastic wrap; airtight plastic container; microwave safe container. Clay should be made 24 hours before class. You’ll also need acrylic paint or spray paint. Clear spray sealer is optional. If making a pendant, you will need a piece of ribbon or cord.

Rain Stick
for grades 1 & up

This class fulfills the 3rd requirement for the Girl Scouts Junior Art Explorers Badge.
Build and decorate a rain stick! You will need a cardboard tube (paper towel or postal), nails shorter than the width of the tube, rice, dried beans, or unpopped popcorn, glue or modge podge, scrap paper, and acrylic paint.

for grades 1 & up

Jar Terrarium
for grades 1 & up

$6 class fee
This class fulfills the 5th requirement for the Girl Scouts Junior Art Explorers Badge.
Create your own piece of nature in this up-cycling project with a glass jar from home. (Terrarium kits are available for purchase if you don’t have a jar available.) You’ll need a glass container, small plants, sticks, rocks, or shells, soil mix, bark, pebbles, sheet moss, and plant charcoal.
