Making Monsters
for ages 10 & up

A drawing class for any experience level! Many of today’s monsters are composites from parts of several creatures. We’ll build monsters in pencil & pen taking inspiration from other creatures, with a twist of mythology and a dash of urban legend.  We will keep in mind skeletal layout, muscle mass, plus fur, scales, horns, teeth, claws and slime. You’ll need paper, pencil, and pen.

Earth Day Every Day: A Kids for Positive Change Program

We’re making Fobots (found object robots) in this upcycled art sculpture class! You’ll need a hot glue gun, recyclable materials for your robot’s body and limbs, small items for buttons, gears, and other details (bottle caps, buttons, beads, etc.), optional stickers & googly eyes, and spray or acrylic paint (any color you want your robot to be.)

Pressed Nature Art

This class fulfills the 2nd requirement for the Girl Scouts Junior Art Explorer Badge.

We’ll make air-dry porcelain clay and use it to create a beautiful pressed pendant, magnet, sun catcher, or bookmark.
Recipe for clay: 1 cup cornstarch; 1 cup white glue; 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of baby oil; hand lotion; plastic wrap; airtight plastic container; microwave safe container. Clay should be made 24 hours before class. You’ll also need acrylic paint or spray paint. Clear spray sealer is optional. If making a pendant, you will need a piece of ribbon or cord.

Build and decorate a rain stick! You will need a cardboard tube (paper towel or postal), nails shorter than the width of the tube, rice, dried beans, or unpopped popcorn, glue or modge podge, scrap paper, and acrylic paint.

Jar Terrarium

This class fulfills the 5th requirement for the Girl Scouts Junior Art Explorers Badge.
Create your own piece of nature in this up-cycling project with a glass jar from home. (Terrarium kits are available for purchase if you don’t have a jar available.) You’ll need a glass container, small plants, sticks, rocks, or shells, soil mix, bark, pebbles, sheet moss, and plant charcoal.

Virtual Dance Classes with Ballet Theatre Ashtabula School of Dance

7 weeks beginning May 19
All dance classes will be held via Zoom and instructed by Clover Robinson. The Zoom link for your class will be provided in your registration receipt, or by your instructor if you have already registered and pre-paid for the spring session. You will use the same link every week for class. If students have been participating in our free Zoom dance classes, they will need the new link for this session.
