Juilliard-trained mezzo soprano Marie Engle and pianist and Ashtabula native Nora Pertz present an evening of classical art song, including a variety of German Lieder, French Melodie, and American songs by Gustav Mahler, Francis Poulenc, Aaron Copeland, and George Gershwin.

Ms. Engle is a 2019 graduate of the Juilliard School, where she received her Masters of Voice studying with Marlena Malas. Her most recent performance was at the Chautauqua Festival this summer in the role of Romeo in Bellini’s opera I Capuletti e i Montecchi. Nora Pertz began her artistic training at the Ashtabula Arts Center, and now enjoys an international career as a collaborative pianist in Europe where she is based in Berlin. The Ohio natives met in 2014 in Vienna, Austria, where they studied intensively the art of the German Lieder at the Franz Schubert Institute. Since then they have performed extensively throughout Europe and the U.S., and are excited to share their love for classical art song with their Ashtabula Audience.
