Visual Arts Coordinator Job Posting

The Ashtabula Arts Center seeks a part-time Visual Arts Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in studio art and teaching experience. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic artist who is interested in sharing their passion for art with the community, and who is a capable multi-tasker and good communicator. This position is ideal for someone seeking a flexible and self-directed schedule of approximately 25 hours per week. Duties and workload will vary depending upon seasonal requirements. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the executive director.

Duties:

  • Plan and organize all aspects of the Visual Arts Department including classes, workshops, and outreach
  • Curate and install monthly exhibits and host artist receptions
  • Hire and supervise teachers for all programs, classes, and workshops
  • Develop outreach programs working with public schools, after school programs, gifted and talented students, home school students, at-risk youth, and Girl Scouts
  • Collaborate with artists, community members, staff, and board to promote the goals of the arts center
  • Collaborate with other creative staff to develop, analyze, and execute long-range plans
  • Teach classes working with students at all ages and levels
  • Manage permanent art collection including maintaining an inventory
  • Attend public events as a representative of the center
  • Clean, organize, and stock art room
  • Provide support to local artists through referrals, acting as a source of information, and maintaining a database of artists
  • Coordinate and supervise volunteers
