The Good Life Singers, in celebration of their 40th anniversary, will be presenting their spring concert, “Dream a Little Dream of Good Life,” on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St., Ashtabula.
The theme for this anniversary concert is “Dreams,” in honor of the late Ellie Palmer and Mary Redmond, and their dream to create a mixed choral group. The group will sing songs such as “Once Upon a Dream,” “I Dreamed a Dream,” and “River of Dreams.” Costumes will be representative of the different costumes worn by the group during the past forty years. “You might even see some PJ’s in your dream state,” said Susan Deak, who has been a member of the group since 1979.
“The Good Life has been hosted by the Ashtabula Arts Center throughout its 40 years,” Deak commented. “The mission of the group is to help support our wonderful arts center.”
Throughout its 40 years, The Good Life has sung many types of music, including pop, sacred, Broadway show tunes, classical, and holiday favorites, and has had four directors and six accompanists. Currently, there are 33 members, with Bridget Sherman serving as director and Yvonne Anderson serving as accompanist for the group.
Tickets for the anniversary concert can be obtained through any Good Life member for $7 each or at the arts center for $9 each. A reception will follow the performance with refreshments furnished by the members.
