Artist’s Reception: Friday, June 2, 6-8 p.m.
Shelenberger is an award-winning artist from Conneaut, Ohio. Her artwork has been widely exhibited and published in several books. She was recently juried into Ohio Designer Craftsmen’s Best of 2017. She had artwork accepted into Focus: Fiber 2016 at Kent State University Museum, a national fiber exhibit juried by Jane Sauer, and Transgressing Traditions: International Juried Exhibit by Surface Design Association at Schweinfurth Arts Center in Auburn, NY. She has worked in textiles for many years and uses several methods of designing and creating imagery on fabric.
On “Interconnected:”
“I am inspired by the interconnections that occur in both personal relationships and artwork. I’ve integrated marks and patterns made by both myself and others so that it creates a piece much broader in meaning. My art in this exhibition explores variation on a pattern or theme; for example Shared Humanity, Safety in Numbers, and Talking Circles. A single pattern can be combined in many ways to create effects from subtle to dramatic. My hope is that you will be inspired to step outside your own circle and connect with others who may be different or struggling. It is the connections and relationships that we build in this world that bring personal meaning to our lives.” — Sandy Shelenberger
