Dance Classes

Nutcracker Production Experience
for ages 7-adult (possible roles for both acts)
Auditions: Oct. 13, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
(ballet training welcome but not required)
Party Scene rehearsal begins Nov. 3, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Battle Scene rehearsal begins Nov. 3, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Act II rehearsal begins Nov. 4, 1-2 p.m.
Performance Dates: Nov. 30-Dec. 2, Dec. 5 (10:30 a.m.), Dec. 7-9,
Dec. 13-16; Thurs., Fri. & Sat. at 7:30 p.m., Sat. & Sun. at 2 p.m.
Season Fee: $120 – includes costume fee
Dancers, actors, and first-timers all welcome — be part of the magic of The Nutcracker. Everyone who auditions will receive a role. Attendance at all rehearsals and at all performances is mandatory. Auditions are first come, first served, and are held to let participants experience the entire production process, as well as to give the dance director an idea of a participant’s level of ability.

MONDAY

Ballet III & IV
with Clover Robinson
5-6:30 p.m.
8 weeks beginning Sept. 10
Dancers will study sustained barre and center work, along with adagio, pirouettes, and allegro combinations, and will be expected to work with greater emphasis on discipline, exactness and precision in skills. Senior Division Dancers are invited to join BTA to participate in the Nutcracker Season and the Spring Dance Concert. Parent/Teacher conferences are held the last week of classes to provide an opportunity for parents to learn of their student’s progress in the program.

 Partnering
with Clover Robinson & Brandon Carlson

This class will introduce basic partnering skills to help prepare Dancers for choreography involving partnering.  Dancers will learn principles of Classical Ballet partnering; girls are required to wear pointe shoes.

Grown Up & Me Yoga
for ages 2-4 (younger siblings welcome)

This class will incorporate child-friendly friendly yoga poses into play through social interaction and repetition, structured to stimulate listening skills and provide wonderful benefits of yoga for toddlers and preschoolers. Improve motor skills, language development, body awareness, socialization and connection, and overall health benefits.

Yoga for Kids
for ages 5 & up

Let’s have fun through breath and movement! We will incorporate yoga poses with creative movement, props, and games, practicing breathing techniques to calm, energize, and balance the nervous system. This class teaches compassion and awareness of others, enhances flexibility, and improves balance and concentration, along with overall health benefits.

Ballet II

4:30-6 p.m.
8 weeks beginning Sept. 11
Ballet II students take two classes per week and focus on developing technical abilities as well as artistic expression, developing self-confidence, coordination, balance, and musicality, while learning the discipline of the art form.  Junior Division Dancers are invited to join BTA to participate in the Nutcracker Season and/or the Spring Dance Concert. Parent/Teacher conferences are held the last week of classes to provide an opportunity for parents to learn of their student’s progress in the program.

Floor Barre

Students will learn to isolate & understand correct muscle usage without the effects of gravity, helping them maintain proper body alignment, and relieving undue tension & stress on the joints.

Gentle Stretch & Movement

Gently loosen muscles and improve flexibility, posture, and range of motion by combining passive and active stretching with fluid movement phrases. This is a great class to relieve tension and feel re-engergized.

 Creative Movement
for ages 3-5

This class focuses on the joy of movement, encouraging children to use and develop imagination through participation in dance, storytelling, & music.

Ballet I

Formal training in Classical Ballet begins at this level. We’ll focus on learning basic vocabulary, alignment, weight transfer, musicality, and coordination, while dancing in a fun and nurturing environment.  Ballet I dancers are invited to join BTA and participate in the Nutcracker Season and/or the Spring Dance Concert. Parent/Teacher conferences are held the last week of classes to provide an opportunity for parents to learn of their student’s progress in the program.

Basic Dance for Fun

This is a fun class for anyone interested in dancing to popular music and learning basic dance moves. Musical theater students & actors would benefit from learning movement phrases and basic combinations introduced in this class.

 Pointe

Little dancers along with their adult dancing partners will enjoy fun and games through movement and music. They’ll have so much fun that they won’t even realize that they are learning gross motor skills, listening skills, musicality, social skills, and learning how to follow teacher directions!

Dancers at this level will learn posture, flexibility, and coordination using music and expression, developing a strong foundation of physical and mental understanding necessary for Classical Ballet training. Fun and beautiful basic ballet concepts are introduced. Dancers will learn vocabulary and build a foundation in ballet technique prior to entering into our leveled classes.
