Hip Hop Master Classes & Choreography Workshop with Ryan Rosinski
for ages 7-adult

Ryan Rosinski, professional Hip Hop dancer and a finalist on So You Think You Can Dance, is returning to the Arts Center to offer a new experience: a series of summer Master Classes, as well as a special Choreography Workshop! This Workshop will offer an in-depth exploration of Hip Hop choreography and staging. Participants of the Workshop are invited to perform on July 27 in the Wine and Walleye Festival on Bridge Street in the Historic Ashtabula Harbor. PLEASE NOTE: anyone who wants to participate in the Choreography Workshop is required to attend all 3 Master Classes. If you are not taking part in the Workshop, the Master Classes can be taken either individually or as a series. Open to ages 7 through adult. No dance experience needed — beginners welcome! Ballet III

Dancers will study sustained barre and center work, along with adagio, pirouettes, and allegro combinations, and will be expected to work with greater emphasis on discipline, exactness and precision in skills. Senior Division Dancers are invited to join BTA to participate in the Nutcracker Season and the Spring Dance Concert.

Ballet IV

Ballet II

Ballet II students take two classes per week and focus on developing technical abilities as well as artistic expression, developing self-confidence, coordination, balance, and musicality, while learning the discipline of the art form. Junior Division Dancers are invited to join BTA to participate in the Nutcracker Season.

Pre-Ballet
for ages 5-7

Dancers at this level will learn posture, flexibility, and coordination using music and expression, developing a strong foundation of physical and mental understanding necessary for Classical Ballet training. Fun and beautiful basic ballet concepts are introduced. Dancers will learn vocabulary and build a foundation in ballet technique prior to entering into our leveled classes. There will be a mini performance on the last day of class.

Fitness & Conditioning
with Lauren Hammond

Use body weight to strengthen core muscles and increase overall functional strength for balance, stability, and injury prevention. Students should bring water and wear sneakers. Ages
12 & under, bring 2-3lb. dumb bells. Ages 12 & up, bring 5lb. dumb bells.

Contemporary Dance
with Clover Robinson

Students will use elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance to explore movement styles while pushing boundaries, gravity, and imagery as they gain technical and artistic experience.

Inclusive Dance Class

This class is for students with special physical and/or cognitive needs, as well as students on the autism spectrum, who enjoy dancing and music. They will improve physical awareness and enjoy expression through movement and music while socializing in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Hula Hoop Dance
for ages 6 & up
with Dixie Morgan
3-4 p.m.
5 weeks beginning July 2
$56 class fee (or $49 for donors)
Dixie Morgan, founder of the fire troupe Array of Light, will teach the basics of hula hooping, as well as some hoop tricks that will be used to learn a short, choreographed hoop dance. Hoops will be provided.

Ballroom: Summer Fiesta

Creative Movement

This class focuses on the joy of movement, encouraging children to use and develop imagination through participation in dance, storytelling, & music. There will be a mini performance on the last day of class.

Formal training in Classical Ballet begins at this level. We’ll focus on learning basic vocabulary, alignment, weight transfer, musicality, and coordination, while dancing in a fun and nurturing environment. Ballet I dancers are invited to join BTA and participate in the Nutcracker Season.

Sign up for extra classes to bridge the gap between sessions. This extra training helps dancers remain in stronger condition and be better prepared for the next session. Maintaining flexibility and technique is necessary for successful growth and development.
