The next of the summer Concerts on the Lawn series at the Ashtabula Arts Center will be held on Wednesday, July 13, at 6:30 p.m., and will feature traditional Irish and Scottish music performed by John Hoyle and Brian Carroll-Hunt.
Hoyle, an Irish tenor, studied voice at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He plays the tin whistle and the bodrhan, a traditional Irish framedrum played with a double-headed stick or beater, and recently played at the arts center for the spring dance concert, “Without Walls.” Hunt is a guitarist who also performs with the group “Forsythe Special.” The two musicians have been playing together for over twenty years.
Concerts on the Lawn are held on the arts center grounds outside Straw Hat Theatre. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket, and are invited to pack a picnic dinner. The Straw Hat concessions stand will also be open. Admission is free, and all concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. The 2016 Concerts on the Lawn series is sponsored by Nassief Auto Group Inc.
