The Ashtabula Downtown Development Association (ADDA) is sponsoring a public art competition to add another “whirligig” to the downtown area. This competition is made possible by a grant from the Ashtabula County Civic Development Corporation (CDC). The winning designer will be awarded $5,000 to purchase materials and fabricate the artwork, which will be placed on the Ashtabula City Hall lawn. The whirligig must depict something that relates to Ashtabula County’s character, history, or heritage. A plaque with the winning artist’s name will be placed alongside the artwork. The competition is open to artists residing in Ashtabula County, or who have “roots” in Ashtabula County.
Entries must be submitted by June 30, 2017. For details on the competition and application guidelines, go to the ADDA website.
