The first of the summer Concerts on the Lawn series at the Ashtabula Arts Center will be held on Wednesday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m., and will feature Tank Jackson of Ashtabula.
At 29 years old, Tywan “Tank” Jackson is a Season 15 “American Idol” contestant, a two- time finalist for the Cleveland Cavs Scream Team, a hip hop dance instructor, and a group fitness trainer. He’s currently developing solo music projects and performances with an album in the works. He has appeared in many G.B. Community Theatre productions, including 2014’s “Little Shop of Horrors,” in which he voiced the crooning, bloodthirsty “Audrey II.”
Jackson’s concert will include R&B and pop hits.
Concerts on the Lawn are held on the arts center grounds outside Straw Hat Theatre. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket, and are invited to pack a picnic dinner, or to take advantage of the Straw Hat concessions stand, which will also be open. Admission is free, and all concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. The 2016 Concerts on the Lawn series is sponsored by Nassief Auto Group Inc.
